Who We Are..

pcove

Pirate's Cove Lounge is owned and operated by Captain Milford Powell and Mrs.
Rebecca Stowe Powell. Helmed by the friendliest crew around, the PCove is always
ready with a cold drink and a warm smile.

Pirate's Cove Owners

Born in Ocean Drive literally just a block away from the Pirate's Cove, Milford Powell has
always been a prominent and popular figure among North Myrtle Beach locals. He devoted 10
years to serving on NMB's Fire Department and Rescue squad, and has owned and operated
businesses on Main Street since the 1960's. Captain Milford is a true North Myrtle Beach
icon and native son.

Local artist Becky Stowe also owns and operates Beach Memories Art Store on Main Street.
In 1993, she was designated as the Official Artist in Residence for the Society of Stranders.
In 1996, she received a Cammy Industry Appreciation Award. She also received the S.O.S. Chairman's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. She became a Sand Flea Honorary Living Legend in 2001. She continues to work in her studio, devoted to her artistic passions.

The building that is now the Pirate's Cove Lounge has a long history in Ocean Drive. Built in
1940 it was originally a bowling alley during Ocean Drive's hayday of the 1950's. Owner Milford
Powell actually set bowling pins by hand here when he was 11 years old! Since then the building
has been home to several bars and nightclubs: The Pourhouse, The Cavalier Club, and most recently The Back Alley Lounge in the 1980's before closing it's doors for 15 years. Milford and a small crew recognized the potential of the space and, in 1995 after a year of rebuilding and
remodeling the Pirate's Cove Lounge opened it's doors for the first time.

North Myrtle Beach has become one of the most popular beach getaways on the East coast. There really is something for everyone here! Ocean Drive is a big part of the NMB allure,
with white sand beaches, unique shops and restaurants, and a laid back atmosphere
that makes relaxation easy.

Main Street is the heart of Ocean Drive, home of South Carolina's state dance "the Shag".
Shake the sand off and celebrate SOS here with the best Blues and Beach music around.
